Tiger King: New Podcast Episode Explores What Happened to the Cast After the Hit Netflix Docuseries

USA, NEW YORK - 05/25/2021 — Lawsuits, grenades, and animal abuse. The story doesn’t end after the Netflix credits roll.

It has been over a year since the hit Netflix docuseries Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness aired on our screens. Now, a new podcast episode, hosted by Elizabeth Novogratz, will take a deeper look at what has happened to the cast of Tiger King since the Netflix show’s premiere.

In an exclusive interview, Novogratz will chat with journalist and Nat Geo Explorer, Sharon Guynup, who has spent four years investigating and exposing tiger cub petting attractions across the United States. From Facebook live and hand grenades to SWAT teams and felony charges, Guynup will tell all about the recent, bizarre events that continue to unfold.

“By the time he was on the run, Tim Stark did this Facebook live where he railed against the judges, officials, and animal rights activists. It was vile and racist. He claimed that together, all of these people had conspired to deny him the right to own and breed exotic animals. He taunted law enforcement,” Guynup says during the episode. “He waved a hand grenade in front of his phone. You know, keep in mind, he's driving down the highway during this hour long Facebook live. And he was also saying that he was willing to die for what he believed in.”

The episode will also explore the animal issues that the Netflix hit often glosses over. With experts stating that there are probably more tigers in captivity in the U.S. than the 3,900 estimated to live in the wild across Asia, this topic is about more than eccentric, cult character creations like Joe Exotic. It’s about the deep-rooted issues of wildlife tourism that thrive in the underbelly of crime across America due to lax laws and a lightly regulated industry.

The highly-anticipated episode will be released on Thursday 27 May, and can be found on the Species Unite website, and all major podcast listening platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Play.
