The eForum, Formerly Known as MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge, Announces the Addition of Two New Advisory Board Members

Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States - 10/07/2021 — Venerable entrepreneurial support organization welcomes MIT Sloan School Professor Dr. Edward B. Roberts and Wolf Greenfield Shareholder John Harmon, Ph.D., JD, to the advisory board at its first meeting on September 30.

The eForum (Formerly known as the MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge) announced today the addition of two new members of the organization’s Advisory board.  They join a highly skilled and passionate group of advisory board members who are committed to helping the eForum and the entrepreneurial community it serves thrive.

Edward B. Roberts, Ph.D. is the David Sarnoff Professor of Management of Technology and Founder/Chair of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship.  He will play a key role in nurturing the eForum’s relationship with the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, where the organization joined as a member as part of the rebranding in July 2021.

John Harmon, Ph.D., JD, is a patent attorney and Shareholder in the Boston office of Wolf Greenfield. He works closely with clients to develop strategic approaches to intellectual property (IP) that are aligned with their business goals. He has been an active participant in the eForum community for many years and will work with other advisory board members on the eForum’s strategic initiatives.

“I am so thrilled to be working with Ed and John on the eForum’s advisory board,” said Katja Wald, Executive Director of The eForum “Ed Roberts is part of the history of the organization formerly known as the MIT Enterprise Forum and John Harmon has been an engaged roll-up-his-sleeves volunteer with us for a long time. I am so grateful to have both of them join our other advisory board members to help shape the future of our newly rebranded organization.”

Edward Roberts is a long-time expert on entrepreneurial endeavors, Ed has written the two influential “bookends” on high-tech business creation and growth. His latest book Celebrating Entrepreneurs: How MIT Nurtured Pioneering Entrepreneurs Who Built Great Companies (Amazon, 2020), describes the history of MIT’s transformation into an entrepreneurial juggernaut, led by Roberts, over the last 50 years.

When not occupied with his MIT responsibilities, Ed is actively involved as a co-founder, board member, and angel investor in many high-tech start-ups. Roberts co-founded and for 16 years served as a General Partner of the Zero Stage Capital Equity Funds, a group of venture capital funds investing in early-stage technology-based firms. He has been a co-founder and/or director of numerous emerging technology companies including Advanced Magnetics (now AMAG Pharmaceuticals), Interactive SuperComputing (sold to Microsoft), Inverness Medical (now a part of Johnson & Johnson), Pegasystems, PR Restaurants, Medical Information Technologies (Meditech) and Sohu.com. He has invested in more than 125 technology-based startups, including most recently HubSpot and Okta.

John Harmon’s practice focuses on worldwide intellectual property counseling including patent prosecution, product clearance analysis, diligence, agreements, and general intellectual property counseling. John represents clients in industry and academia, ranging from venture-backed startups to large corporations and academic institutions in a wide range of technologies, related to the mechanical, materials, and chemistry fields. John’s strong technical skills combined with his deep knowledge of patent law and industry allows him to align client business goals with specific IP strategies crafted to meet those goals.

Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, John was a consultant with a focus on batteries, medical devices, consumer products, and general materials issues. During his doctorate studies at the California Institute of Technology, John conducted research in materials processing and the characterization of metallic glasses and composite materials.
