Taiwanese preventative health care company, Wyncor, announce successful trials of hospital-grade arrhythmia detection tool for use in home
TAIWAN - 01/09/2018 — Wyncor Inc., a Taiwan-based startup dedicated to preventative healthcare, have successfully trailed their home-based arrhythmia detection tool, which detects arrtyhmia with between 97 and 99% accuracy.
The company uses a deep learning dual convolutional neural network (DCNN) to classify cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) from the MIT-BIH arrhythmias database. It is a breakthrough in the detection and resolution of cardiovascular diseases.
Arrhythmia is the medical term given to an abnormal heartbeat. Arrhythmia occurs when an incorrect sequence of electrical impulses is sent to the heart, causing the heart to beat too quickly, too slowly, or erratically. This is dangerous as when the heart is not beating as it normally should do, it cannot properly pump blood and other vital organs – like the brain or lungs – may not receive the blood they need to operate.
Between 2.7 and 6.1 million people in the United States alone have atrial fibrillation, the most common type of heart arrhythmia.
Wyncor’s AI-based DCNN software, called WynAI™ includes beat-by-beat and rhythm classification algorithms which can classify atrial fibrillation, and other arrhythmias, with extreme accuracy. WynAI™ can serve as a tool for screening an electrocardiogram (ECG), one of the primary ways doctors diagnose CVDs.
For home-use, WynAI™ analysis is helped by the Dr. Cardiac™, a compact and easy-to-use ECG recorder with adhesive patch which monitors the heart the whole day long, even while exercising, showering, or sleeping. The cardiac data is then processed by WynAI™ software to make a highly-accurate diagnosis, helping both doctors and patients.
