HOUSTON, TX - 05/05/2016 — The Rheumatic Disease Clinic of Houston's free annual health fair will take place on May 14th at their offices at 4825 Almeda Road. The focus for this year's event is Lupus Awareness, with a number of talks and lectures scheduled throughout the day to help educate the entire family about lupus and what can be done to help those living with lupus to better cope with the disease.
RDCH's own, Dr.Samuel Pegram will lead a talk and Q&A session on taking an active role in dealing with the disease with tips and strategies for better pain management. This lecture is scheduled to take place in the waiting area of the office from 10AM- 12PM. In the exam room from 9AM-10AM, Dr. Sikes will be leading a seminar on podiatry with live demonstrations of exercises that can be done that are designed to strengthen muscles, prevent joint stiffness, manage fatigue and avoid weight gain.
RDCH will be offering free health screenings at the event for registered participants, complete with full evaluations and consultations including a blood glucose reading, blood pressure check, and weight gain check. Additional event features include the opportunity to meet other families living with lupus, insurance assistance to help you find the right provider for your needs, nutrition guidance, as well as an opportunity to learn about the recent research advancements in the field of Rheumatology.
Attendees are asked to RSVP to the event at http://healthfair.rdch.org which will grant them access not only to the free health screening, but also to goody bags, snacks, education booths and prizes. The event is free but seating is limited.
