About Dr. Jorge de la Pedraja
Dr. de la Pedraja’s World-Class Education and Training
A Miami native, Dr. de la Pedraja attended the University of Miami where he received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biology and chemistry. He then attended Georgetown University, obtaining a Master of Science (MS) degree, and the University of Kansas for his Medical Degree (MD).
Returning to Miami, Dr. de la Pedraja trained in general surgery and plastic/reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He acted as chief resident in both general and plastic/reconstructive surgery. Dr. de la Pedraja continued to pursue his interest in aesthetic and breast surgery with additional specialized fellowship training with the world-renowned Dr. Scott Spear at Georgetown University Hospital.
Certifications, Memberships, and Community Service
Dr. de la Pedraja is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Additionally, he maintains membership with the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. de la Pedraja has published many papers on plastic surgery and stays current with the latest trends by regularly attending local and national plastic surgery meetings.
He is also actively involved in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast following breast cancer and has helped many women in their battle against breast cancer. Every October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. de la Pedraja gives several lectures on breast cancer reconstruction.
