DuPage Senior Citizens Council Staff Receives Award From The DuPage County Sheriff's Office
United States, Illinois, Lombard - 02/05/2021 — DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) announced today that Tracy Halunka and Ralph King were presented with the President's Volunteer Service Award for their work in partnership with the DuPage County Sheriff's Office by providing food to several hundred older adults. Their work allowed seniors to travel to a safe location to pick up food without having to leave the safety of their vehicle.
"We didn't have a set structure on how we did things", said Office Mendrick from the DuPage County Sheriff's office. "DSCC showed us organization and how to manage a system. It was a work of art."
Through a collaborative effort with the DuPage Sheriff's Office, DSCC provided 5-packs of frozen meals to hundreds of older adults. Seniors signed up to receive meals. Then Tracy and Ralph along with the Sheriff's Office safely distributed the meal packages every other Saturday from August to November so the seniors didn't have to miss a meal.
Mandrick said, "Thanks to DSCC, we now have a larger access list of elders and people improvershed that we can continue to help".
DSCC's partnership with the DuPage Sheriff's Office helped get meals to the older adults who needed them which supports DSCC's mission of providing meals and services to seniors in need.
