U2F Authentication Is Now Possible on Jira and Confluence
Alpha Serve has launched two plugins, 2FA for Jira: U2F & TOTP, and 2FA for Confluence: U2F & TOTP: in a bid to offer convenient security solutions for Jira and Confluence, respectively. They are now both available on the Atlassian Marketplace for users to try out for free or purchase.
These applications contribute to Alpha Serve’s goal of safeguarding users around the world from data breaches. With them, Jira and Confluence developers can utilize U2F gadgets as the second factor of verification.
U2F is an open standard for universal two-factor verification tokens. It allows users to safely access any web service using one security key via USB, near field communication (NFC), or Bluetooth devices.
“These plugins support an unlimited number of U2F devices and offer benefits, such as better privacy, great usability, excellent user experience, freedom to pick a suitable authentication factor, tracking U2F activity, and safe backup codes,” says the Alpha Serve management representative. “Both plugins work with the latest versions of Jira and Confluence.”
According to user feedback, 2FA for Jira: U2F & TOTP can be configured easily and provides elaborate features, such as whitelisting and multiple key support. 2FA for Confluence: U2F & TOTP, on the other hand, is quite responsive and integrates effortlessly with all environments, simple or complex.
These two solutions were the first applications in the Atlassian Marketplace to allow for the leveraging of U2F devices, such as Yubico Yubikey, NitroKey, TapID, Bluink Key, and Feitian, in combination with a mobile gadget to generate a key code.
People can install the plugins by logging into their Jira or Confluence as administrators and selecting the Atlassian Marketplace in the admin drop-down menu, where they can search for either of the plugins. Some of the notable names already using these solutions include IKEA, Hitachi Systems Inc, University of Otago, Spaceflight Inc, Audi Electronics Venture GmbH, ProCredit Bank Bulgaria, among others.
