Entertainment Industry Veteran Helps Fill Void with Long-Running Fine Arts Programming and Arts Education Scholarships

ATLANTA, GA - 07/06/2016 — Tayo Reed’s Performing Arts Center and Preschool Academy of the Arts, an Atlanta area leader in fine arts education for children of all ages, is celebrating 18 years of arts education and service to the local community this year. The center is committed to education, developing and cultivating talent and providing quality youth and adult programs with an emphasis on excellence, innovation and benefitting the common good.

In the last year, the center has introduced partial scholarships in an effort to provide greater access to arts education for local students. Also offered are free fine arts classes and free preschool, daycare programs and afterschool enrichment programs annually approved by The Department of Family and Children Services based on income, making the center the only program in the State of Georgia to offer fine arts in these programs. Classes include dance, music, drama and voice and more.

“In the U.S., we’re not only experiencing a sharp decline in the availability of arts instruction but also an equity gap, limiting low income students’ access to high quality programming and curricula,” said Tayo Reed, entertainment industry veteran and founder of Tayo Reed’s Performing Arts Center and Preschool Academy of the Arts. “Our goal is to continue to impress upon parents, community and government leaders and corporate partners the importance of a well-rounded education, and continue to provide arts education opportunities that are rooted in excellence for students at all income levels.”

Tayo Reed has been a member of the Atlanta area’s fine arts community and entertainment industry for over 30 years. She is an alumna of Avondale High School of the Arts, one of the original members of the Atlanta NBA Hawks Dance Team and a former NFL Atlanta Falcon’s cheerleader. She was also a member of the Gary Harrison Dance Company, a prolific local dance troupe celebrated for combining social messages and cutting edge choreography, and representing 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA with the World of Coca Cola National Show Production now the historical Centennial Park.

Reed passes on her rich arts education and background to the students at her performing arts center in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of artists, and providing them with the tools and skills required to succeed in an increasingly competitive world. Arts education is proven to augment motor skills, language development, decision-making, visual learning, inventiveness and academic performance.

In addition to grooming young performers and arts enthusiasts, Reed also helps to shape the careers of young adults interested in entertainment. Her company, Party Bands USA Entertainment, offers management and booking for artists, soloists, dancers, musicians and variety acts globally.

Tayo Reed’s Performing Arts Center and Preschool Academy of the Arts is moving to expand its capacity to accommodate all youth that are desperately in need of help, especially those residing in low-income areas in Union City. GoFundMe campaigns have been established to help low-income students access the arts, combat bullying, prevent youth violence and create safe, supportive environments for youth to channel their energy and express themselves through stage performances, choreography leadership programs, directing, fine arts assistantships and other channels for cultivating artistic gifts.
