AUSTIN, TEXAS - 03/26/2018 — Nobility Press announces the release of a book titled, “Dictators and Diplomats, A Special Agent’s Memoir and Musings,” by retired U.S. Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) supervisory special agent Robert W. Starnes.

“Dictators and Diplomats,” offers a peek behind the veil of international security and lends historical perspectives never before shared, while honoring the men and women of civilian law enforcement and uniformed military services.

Tiger Woods’ protection after the U.S. Embassy received a death threat letter containing laboratory grade potassium cyanide leading to the New Zealand Golf Open was a career highlight for Robert W. Starnes.

His Libyan assignment as a member of the U.S. diplomatic envoy that first returned to Tripoli and Benghazi after a 24-year absence was a tour behind enemy lines during the reign of the infamous dictator Col. Muammar Gaddafi.

In his memoir, Robert explains how he was stranded in Brazil with a suspected high-ranking Hezbollah terrorist. The tense moments of protecting a U.S. Embassy from an imminent planned terrorist car bomb attack in Paraguay, and arresting a Pakistani military jet fighter pilot defector in Texas desiring to kill Americans when he was merely two weeks from joining the U.S. Army Airborne.

A serial adventurer, Robert W. Starnes shares life-threatening events during Guatemala’s civil war, managing civilian and military assets during Paraguay’s violent coup d’état, capturing the elusive “Love Bandit,” and encountering Nazi fingerprints in South America.

Known for his expertise in counterterrorism, counterintelligence, investigations, and protective security, Robert has protected notable dignitaries such as: Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Prince Charles, and Margaret Thatcher.

Robert’s protective security expertise was called upon by the Texas State Police to revamp their Governor’s protective detail soon after the 2008 arson attack against the Governor’s Mansion in Austin, Texas.

For excitement, Robert hunts Western Diamondback rattlesnakes, climbed an active volcano in Guatemala, visited the off-limits volcanic ravaged Caribbean island nation capital city of Plymouth, Montserrat, traveled to the Israeli West Bank during Hezbollah rocket attacks, and has driven on the world’s most dangerous road in Bolivia.
