Richard Vie selected as Lifetime CEO of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)
LAKE FOREST IL - 05/21/2018 — Richard C. Vie, Former CEO and Chairman Emeritus of the Kemper Corporation, was just recently selected as Lifetime CEO of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the field.
While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. With over 3 decades of professional experience as an Insurance Company Executive and respected Business Leader, Mr. Vie has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field.As a dynamic results-driven leader, Mr. Vie has demonstrated success not only as a notable Executive to lead the largest insurance corporation, but Mr. Vie is also a widely regarded military veteran. Prior to his successful career with Kemper, Mr. Vie served as a lieutenant for the United States Navy in 1958-1962. He was recognized as the youngest aircraft commander in the largest squadron in the Airborne Early Warning Squadron of the Pacific.His impressive repertoire of prior roles and titles included President, CEO and on the Board of Directors for United Insurance Company in 1983. He then went on to serve Unitrin, Inc., in a variety of roles, including member of the board of directors, Senior Vice President, CEO and President. A subsidiary of Teledyne Inc., the company is now known as the Kemper Corporation; Mr. Vie has served in the capacity of Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and CEO until he retired in 2009.Mr. Vie also sat on the board of directors with Valparaiso University and Concordia University and he completed formal education through the University of Missouri and Saint Louis University.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Vie has been active in his community and has received many awards, accolades’ and has been featured in several publications.For 2019 he is being considered for a feature in T.I.P (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was named Top Lifetime CEO of the Year.For 2017, 2016 & 2015 he was selected as Outstanding Professional of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement by Marquis Who’s Who.Was featured and published in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Corporate America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.Mr. Vie serves as a chairman of the U.S. Navy Memorial in the District of Columbia, co-chairman of the Chicago Navy Memorial at Navy Pier, and director of the National Museum of the American Sailor Foundation in 2017. He has been recognized as a chairman and founder of Military Outreach USA since 2011.
