MISSOURI’S ‘TITAN OF TRANSPORTATION’ IS BACK WITH TRANSPORTATION SOLUTION SERVICES
ST. LOUIS, MO - 01/22/2018 — Among all the amazing achievements serial entrepreneur and local businessman Bernie Squitieri has experienced, his pride and joy was the founding of Express Medical Transporters. He started EMT in his basement in1996 with one car and grew it to become the national leader in non-emergency medical transportation with 10 locations in 11 states and hundreds of vehicles on the road. When he sold the company in 2014, EMT was the largest for-profit transportation company in the state of Missouri.
After forgiving a note of $1.3 million owed to him from the buyers of EMT, which cancelled the non-compete agreement he signed at the time of the sale, Squitieri has now moved forward and formed a new company Transportation Solution Services LLC that will operate in St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri and will specialize in student and medical transportation needs among other forms of transportation.
“I received many calls from former clients who wanted me to come back into the business,” said Squitieri. “Transportation Solution Services is going to primarily be a student transportation service, since that’s where the demand seems to be right now. Every school district is exploding with transportation needs for students under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
The McKinney-Vento Act says that each state educational agency shall ensure that every child of a homeless individual and every homeless youth has equal access to the same free ,appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, as provided to other children and youths including free transportation.
Squitieri said he has invested in state of the art technology GPS, telematics, digital video systems, vehicle tracking apps and other technology that provide actionable data to enhance safety. This technology will increase efficiencies and reduce costs,” Squitieri said. “Today’s vehicles are safer, smarter, more connected than ever before”.
Squitieri said he understands the challenges faced by doctors, school districts and increased customer expectations. According to one former EMT client on a call to Bernie, “Bernie you are the Titan of Transportation, we need you back”. The former client convinced him to leverage his reputation and expertise to broaden his customer base and provide schools and communities with the best transportation available.
“Special Education students represent a growing portion of the student population, often requiring specially equipped vehicles and routes to specialized schools and I understand those needs well” Squitieri said.
Transportation Solution Services LLC will be creating 40-50 new jobs just in the St. Louis area and began offering its transportation services 24 hours a day 7 days a week as of January 1st.
Squitieri is also in the midst of acquiring two other transportation companies and will combine these three for one solid system. “I’m back”, said Squitieri with a big smile.
