NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK - 05/31/2016 — The Arts Horizons LeRoy Neiman Art Center in Harlem is hosting its Fourth Annual Spring Fundraiser, ART SPLASH 2016 on Thursday evening, June 2nd from 6 – 9 PM.  This year’s theme is A Legacy of Leadership,” honoring Congressman Charles B. Rangel, U.S. Representative, 13th Congressional District; George T. McDonald, Founder & President, The Doe Fund, Inc.; Seret Scott, Director/Actor/Playwright; and Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer. Honorees receiving awards at the reception are being recognized for their distinguished life contributions to their community as well as their support of the arts.

The festive event includes a cocktail reception, and food from Harlem’s leading restaurants.  It will be also be framed by a Legacy benefit exhibition and auction highlighting the works of LeRoy Neiman and a host of notable contemporary fine artists including Joe Belbey, Willie Moe Brown, Ramona Candy, Jimmy James Greene, Jim Hoston, Laura James, Carl McIntoch, Otto Neals, Donovan Nelson, Robert Reid, Ann Tanksley and Michael Kelly Williams.

“Each year, the ART SPLASH event gives us an opportunity to honor the legacy of LeRoy Neiman who was drawn to larger-than-life figures in sports, entertainment and history,” said Marline Martin, Director of the LeRoy Neiman Art Center. “Through his life and creative expressions, Mr. Neiman championed the underrepresented in bold compositions, and left an indelible legacy, not only through the magnitude of his work, but through his unparalleled philanthropy during his life and now through his Foundation.” 

ART SPLASH 2016:  A Legacy of Leadership” is a fundraising occasion to recognize individuals who are making a difference in the Harlem community and beyond as well as to generate support for the work of The Center and its role in the community as an active art center for learning and engagement in the arts for people of all ages. All proceeds from the event will go towards The Center’s programs and activities.  Now in its 8th year of operation, its mission is to strengthen the community through the arts by providing quality arts programming and creative experiences that supports life-long learning, and by building sustainable partnerships and collaborations.

The ART SPLASH reception and awards ceremony is Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the LeRoy Neiman Art Center, 2785 Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 148th Street, in Harlem, NY 10039.
