WASHINGTON, D.C METRO AREA - 11/27/2018 — Dr. Michael G. Oehler was recently selected as Top Consultant of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his noteworthy leadership and commitment to the consulting profession.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few individuals in each professional discipline are chosen yearly by IAOTP for this top award. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, and longevity in the field, as well as other affiliations and contributions to their communities. Michael is a US citizen based in the Washington DC Metro area with many years of domestic and international public and private sector professional experience involving 25+ nations. With close to four decades of wide-ranging work experience, Dr. Oehler has certainly proven himself an accomplished professional and expert capable of wearing many hats. His specific areas of professional expertise and experience include: Conflict/Crisis/Risk Management; Global Education and Training in Cultures, Intercultural Communication, Languages, and Linguistics; Organizational Management Consulting; and Safety/Security.

In his global career, Michael has functioned as an educator, educational administrator and curriculum developer at levels that spanned primary/secondary school through graduate school – including teaching experience at Harvard University. Further, Dr. Oehler has also worked as a corporate and organizational administrator/executive/manager, communications and operations specialist, strategic planner, trainer and training materials developer.

Dr. Oehler’s career preparation included focused, successful study at numerous schools and training institutes in four countries including varying periods of post-graduate study at the universities of Cambridge (UK), Harvard (USA), Oxford (UK) & two distinguished research institutes: one in Oxford (UK) & the other at an Australian National Research Center in Sydney. He has earned degrees from three US schools: a B.A. in Sociology from Whitworth College (now Whitworth University), an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the School for International Training, and a Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min.) in Conflict Management from Trinity Theological Seminary in conjunction with the University of Liverpool. Michael also completed 15+ specialized certificates in safety/security, or language/culture subjects at distinguished schools or training/research institutes in the USA, England, Australia and Japan. Additionally, he previously qualified for five homeland security-related certifications from two professional industry associations. He also holds professional industry certification as a: Certified Anti-Terrorism Officer with the International Association of Counterterrorism and Security Professionals (IACSP).

Throughout his career, Dr. Oehler has been active in the global community and has therefore been recognized worldwide for his leadership and commitment to serving others. As noted here, Dr. Oehler has recently been named the Top Consultant of the Year for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). He was the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and 2018, respectively, and just received the same award for 2019. Prior to such recognition, his bio has been listed in annual editions of Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2007-Present) and Marquis Who’s Who in America (2009-Present). For 2019, Michael is additionally being considered for the IAOTP Lifetime Achievement Award.    

In the past, he was selected as a Citizen Ambassador for the US-based People-to-People Ambassador Program to Europe in 1993, where he worked with other experts to improve existing educational systems at all levels in different nations. In 1995, Dr. Oehler volunteered to organize and execute disaster relief efforts in response to the devastating earthquake affecting the Kobe, Japan area.  For a number of years until 2017, he was a Board Member on three professional boards related to the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security (ABCHS), and he further held the roles of Secretary on two of these boards: The American Board of Intelligence Analysts (ABIA), and The American Board for Certified Master Chaplains (ABCMC). Michael also served as an Editorial Board Member for Inside Homeland Security Magazine (published by ABCHS) from 2011-2017.  

Overall, Dr. Oehler feels greatly blessed by and is very thankful for his faith, family and the other wise mentors who have loyally supported and guided him throughout his life and career. He is also most appreciative of all his immediate and extended family members over many generations who dedicatedly served the nation as members of the US Air Force, US Navy, and US Army, or as law enforcement officers and first responders. Moving forward, Michael hopes to continue making significant and positive contributions to the world, America, and the lives of others in any way that he can.
