Black WWII Veteran celebrated in Award Winning Documentary Short Film
LOS ANGELES, CA - 03/13/2018 — World War II Veteran Simeon Holloway turns 97 this month. Two years ago, his son Tymm Holloway shot his first Documentary short to celebrate his father, capturing his positive spirit, dynamic personality and his memories of the U.S. Navy's B1 Band. The film "95 Never Looked So Good" debuted at the Las Vegas Black Film Festival in April 2017 and over the course of a year has touched audiences across North America earning awards including Distinction at Canada Shorts, Semi-Finalist at the Violette Film Festival and ultimately Best Short at the Nevada International Film Festival. "95 Never Looked So Good" will receive it's New York Premiere as an Official Selection in the Socially Relevant Film Festival on March 21st at 4PM. At the heart of the eight minute film is the elder Holloway's lessons on longevity, including keeping a regular fitness regimen and the love of Family. Simeon Holloway, who now lives in Las Vegas after years in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, originally hails from North Carolina. During World War II, he was a member of the Navy's very first band of all-Black enlisted men. In the wake of the Civil Rights era, firsts like this have managed to be forgotten. Not intent to have he and his comrades fade into obscurity, Simeon Holloway launched a crusade and this past Memorial Day he and the last three living members of the elite B1 Band were finally recognized with a historical marker in Chapel Hill, NC by the Governor of the state.

Producer/Director Tymm Holloway was raised in California where his father’s work in the film industry played a key role in fueling a passion for film including directing, producing, writing, and photography. Holloway attended New York’s School of Visual Arts. “95 Never Looked So Good” was filmed in 2016 and was conceived as a celebration of the remarkable life of his then 95 year old father.
