Buzzed Art Nite Raises Mental Health Awareness with Release of Art Therapy Book
DALLAS, TX - 05/23/2017 — Dallas based mobile paint party company, Buzzed Art Nite is set to release an adult coloring book that promotes stress relief and mental health awareness. "RELAX, Wine Down and Color" is Buzzed Art Nite owner, Tanasha Allwood's first published work. The goal of the coloring book is to promote art as therapy and a method to relax and become aware of one's emotional state.
Throughout the book, Allwood weaves the story of her own mental health journey while promoting a positive mindset and inspiration. Mental health is historically a taboo subject, however Allwood tackles it head on in this inspirational adult coloring book.
'I feel it's necessary to promote mental health awareness because when I was in Corporate America, I used to suffer in silence. There was a lot of pressure to perform and keep things under control but the truth was I was falling apart behind closed doors and I had no one to really listen to me without judgement. It wasn't until I started painting and coloring to help relieve stress, anxiety, and depression that I discovered how therapeutic it was. It helped me and so now, I believe in sharing this with others who may be going through a similar situation," she says.
Art therapy is a practice that uses the creative process, and the resulting artwork to explore feelings, deal with emotional conflicts, Foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, reduce anxiety, and increased self-esteem. Allwood's hope is that the book provides a positive outlet for those dealing with stress and negative emotions.
"What I love about Tanasha's book is her willingness to be open with us, to share of herself and the positive message throughout. Coloring allows us to switch off our brains and focus more on the moment, which can certainly be an anxiety and stress reducer. Our mental health can benefit from the common effects of coloring and other forms of artistic expression," says National Alliance Against Mental Illness (NAMI)- Dallas Executive Director Marsha Rodgers.
